The American Headache and Migraine Association’s Annual Patient Conference 2015 in Washingon, D.C.

My goal here at Mygraine: Adventures of a Migraine Warrior is to advocate for migraine awareness by way of educating the general population as well as empathizing with my fellow migraine warriors.

A quick note about the term “migraine warrior”: though it may sound cheesy, I’ve never much cared for thinking of myself as a sufferer, so I’ve dubbed myself a warrior. While it’s only a written phrase, it makes me feel more powerful in the face of a disease that has the potential to make even the strongest person feel powerless. You will also sometimes see me refer to people as “migraineurs” which is just a fancy word for people who experience migraines.

As my blog grows and my network expands, I hope to do more fundraising and outreach with a variety of people and groups. For instance, I am a Pain Ambassador for The U.S. Pain Foundation and am working hard to be a voice and a role model in my community and across the country for both chronic pain and invisible illness. Additionally, I am an avid supporter of and contributor to The American Migraine Foundation as well as The American Headache and Migraine Association, and The Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy.

All in all, what you’ll find here are facts about migraines, tips and tricks to deal with them, how to cope with a loved one who has migraines, sample dialogue for migraineurs when dealing with the general public, reviews of products and treatments I have used, personal migraine stories, migraine trivia, and much, much more!
